2019 International Archives Day 2019

University Archives was invited to participate in International Archives Day 2019

On 8 June 2019, University Archives participated with nine local institutions in the exhibition organised by the Hong Kong Archives Society. A booth was set up to promote University Archives' collection and services.

This year the global theme of International Archives Day is ‘Designing the Archives in the 21st Century’. Through the idea of putting people at the centre of what we do, the celebration is reminding us of how to adopt a human-centred design approach to deliver benefits to our stakeholders. CUHK Archives displayed historical records and videos that featured the campus development, architectural designs of CUHK and the sketch of Vice-Chancellor’s seal. The exhibits attracted a large number of visitors and aroused their interest in archival records.

Assistant Professor Sharon Wong form the Department of Anthropology of CUHK has also delivered a talk with the topic “Connecting Archaeology, Art and Archives: An User Perspective”. She shared with the audience about her experience on using archival records and how to adopt a cross-disciplinary approach to widen the perspective of research.
